Hi Community

I am looking to get a new computer for gaming this year and i drew up of a list of parts that i thought would be suitable

CPU: Intel i5 4570 - $225
Motherboard: Gigabyte H87M-D3H- $109
Memory: 8GB Patriot-S DDR3-1600 RAM - $72
GPU: Sapphire OC 2GB Radeon 7850 - $195
HDD: WD Blue 500GB HDD - $59
PSU: Corsair VS650W - $77
Case: Coolermaster K380 - $53

This computer will be primarily built for playing games from 2008-present and i am not looking to overclock.

Would someone with experience be able to see if there are any improvements that i can make that could save me money or yield a better performance

Thanks

The 7870XT is a good buy certainly and yea a online retailer will have it most certainly. Another option at the price range that the 7870XT Is at would be the GTX760 which is a mid ground between the GTX660Ti and the GTX670. Also, I would really STRONGLY look at the combo deals with newegg. You can get a combo deal where you can land with a unlocked cpu and a motherboard at a very good price.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($229.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($149.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $359.98

I would go with a cheaper i5; there's no point in buying anything other than the cheapest option if you aren't buying an overclockable chip.

You can also get cheaper ram pretty easily.

That should allow you to bump the graphics card up from a 7850 to a 7870 XT (tahiti LE edition) which will make a huge difference.

Any suggestions of what CPU i should get instead?

lol the ram is the cheapest one for 8GB at the computer store im buying it from :/

Ahh, that's a shame on the ram.

For the CPU, the 4430 is your best bet.

That being said, consider going with a z77 platform to overclock a 3570k - total cost is about the same as what you've got there, with much better performance, even with a very easy to accomplish overclock.

whats the difference betweeh the Sapphire OC 7870 edition the the 7870 XT? Because the computer store im buying from doesnt sell the XT edition of it

Which version would you suggest i buy

The XT, also known as the 7870 LE or (Tahiti) is based on the same chip the 7950 is, which means that it's a fair bit faster.

If you absolutely can't buy online, and have to buy in that store, go for the 7870 GHz. If you can get your mits on a 7870 XT, do so.
