I have a question regarding compatibility with a motherboard and cpu cooler.
My question, will a gigabyte gtx 670 4gb card (gigabyte gtx 670-4gb gv-n670oc) work with a asrock extreme6 z77 mobo? Also I have a evo 212 cpu cooler going in a thermotake mk-1 full tower case. Someone had mentioned it is a large card and takes up 3 pci-e slots. I'm not sure what that means.
Thank you for any input.

Last though for add on, I am using a i7-3770k cpu, and do mainly graphics and dabble with 3d rendering.

It should all work just fine. You have a full sized motherboard with a full ATX tower. As well as being a triple slot card, it's also longer than average. But you have a roomy setup and as long as you didn't need the extra PCIe slot that will be covered, then no problems. The only issue might be with the clearance of your CPU cooler over your memory modules if they are high profile sticks with tall heat spreaders. All the same, the Evo 212 just has a single fan, so I doubt there will be any issues.

The card takes up 3 slots. That means that you will have to sacrifice 3 PCI slots on the back of your case. Also you won't be able to use 3 PCIe slots on the motherboard because the card will cover 2 of them up and go into one.

Thank you for your answers.
Being my first build this has gotten pretty in depth, I plan on installing an ssd boot drive with a hold hdd in a raid configuration as suggested. Is one pci-e slot going to do it? I have plenty of room on the back of the case (8 punch outs), it might be a little off this forum, but could this work?

Should be no problem. Your SSDs aren't going to use up any of the space reserved for your PCIe cards. Only thing might be a sound card that would go in one of the open and available PCIe slots, at the bottom end away from the video card. I think you're good.
