How much overclocking needed?

I currently have an fx 4100 processor and will possibly get a Radeon HD 7950 I currently can run it at 4.2 Ghz stable. What frequency do you think would be needed to make sure a 7950 wouldn't get bottle necked?

yea my fx 6300 bottlenecks my 7950 in bf3 multiplayer. my gpu usage on max settings is around 50-70 percent, however my cpu even when overclocked to 4.5ghz causes me to stay below a constant 60fps

Probably not gonna like this answer, but by sheer design, not possible. Even if you ran 5ghz on LN2 you are still going to see some bottleneck. An i5, to the best of my knowledge, is the minimum you need to run to fully utilize. It's not about how fast, but rather how the processor handles the pci-e channels

Will changing it to an Fx 6300 make it so it doesn't bottleneck a 7950?
