Hey everyone,
I'm building my first rig. I've spent the past few days researching and need some help.

Firstly I'll be using it for university/gaming.
The software that will be used includes Autocad, Archicad, Revit, Setchup, and rendering software. There are a few more design programs aswell...

I'll also be looking to start gaming so BF3/Crysis etc.

Budget - 1400 to 1600 £.

So far i've come up with

Case -
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-266-CM

Ram -
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-142-KS

Hard Drives -
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-366-WD

and

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-159-SA

CPU -
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-019-CS

Motherboard -
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-490-AS&groupid=701&catid=5

Monitor -
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-048-AS&groupid=17&catid=1120

I'm not sure if im overdoing it, and what else I should be considering anything else.
All help welcome :)

Solution
u do not need
1. the wired network adapter
2. the sound card
both are integrated in the motherboard
rather than going for 2 HDs go for a single 2TB one
OCZ PSUs are not very good
also u don't need the 4GB GPU, 2 is enough
the build is going to 2K pounds, way over ur budget

I was looking at the same GPU, http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-221-EA&groupid=701&catid=1914 , just didnt know whether 4gb would be overkill.

Also would it not better to go for a 2011 socket motherboard - in terms of future proof and performance?

Hello I apolagize that you have been waiting for a few days but I have just recently built a gaming pc and I have learned a lot from my build.

First, The processor is great but the cpu cooler is completely unneeded. If your going to be spending 60$ on the cooler you might as well spend 30 and upgrade the actually cpu, or just take and pocket the extra 30 dollars. Also this cooler is getting pretty bad reviews about breaking down and it not functioning.

Second, Forget what I said about pocketing that 30$. You highly need to upgrade your motherboard. I suggest the I suggest this motherboard. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168.... There is currently 55$ off on newegg.com and that brings it down to around 130$. I really like this mb and think its a great fit and will be alot better than that one. This one includes wifi card and built in sound-card.

Third, the ram is fine but i suggest this ram instead http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168....

Fourth, Your storage is good for the money :)

Fifth, this is a MUCH better card for the money, I usually like nvidea but for 150 there isn't much.

Lastly, there is no reason to buy windows pro for gaming :)

Here is a updated build that I recommend, feel free to mess around with this build and repost it! I would love to help!

this is not including the mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E168...
