Ok so these are the HDD and SSD i bought for my gaming rig.
HDD:
(PCPartPicker) http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seagate-internal-hard-drive-st1000dm003
(Provider: NCIX US ) http://us.ncix.com/products/?usaffiliateid=1000031504&sku=65701&vpn=ST1000DM003&manufacture=Seagate&promoid=1337
SDD:
(PCPartPicker) http://pcpartpicker.com/part/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mz7td120kw
(Provider: Amazon ) http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NHAFBA/?tag=pcpapi-20

My motherboard (ASUS Maximus V Gene) has Two SATA 2 connection slots, and Four SATA 3 connection slots. According to the PCPartPicker pages for both of these items they are SATA 6? Do i just plug both the HDD and SSD into two of the four SATA 3 slots, and connect my DVD drive / writer into a SATA 2 slot?

Solution

ah... you're getting confused over their vague language. There is no SATA 6... there is a SATA 6gb/s connection, otherwise known as SATA III.

use the drives in the sata iii connection and call it a day.
