Will data in RAID-1 lost if I change IRST RAID-1 to AHCI then RAID-1 again?

I have 1 SSD with the Windows 7 OS installed and 2 HDD in RAID-1 using Intel RST. The User folders of Windows 7 are located in the RAID-1 drive.

It seems that I need to have the BIOS setting in AHCI so that I could perform FW update on the SSD (what kind of FW update software? ). Now, I know the way to change the RAID-1 to AHCI. But, if I do so and then reboot and enter the Windows, perform the FW update. Could I reform the RAID-1 again without the data being lost and how?

Thanks!

MB: AsRock H77 Pro4-M
Storage: 1x SSD (SATA-3), 2x HDD in RAID-1 (SATA-2)

There is no problem, even you do connect the HD too. You only update the firmware as long as you don't do someting on the raid you are fine.
I have a test PC at home, I had the 120GB SSD and I made two partitions, I put win7 and win8 into that SSD, and the two 500GB HDD in raid0. Under the win7 I can boot the PC with raid mode or ahci mode, I can see the SSD and raid0, but under the win8 I only can boot the PC within the raid mode because I seted the system by using the raid mode.
I did test in my PC if you use win7 you are fine to switch between RAID or AHCI mode, but not for win8. And for safety you can disconnect the two HDD before update the firmware. After that you change back to raid mode and put back the two HDD.

Since the User folder has been relocated to the two HDD drive, I wonder if I simply disconnect the RAID, the windows could not be started up properly.
