Greetings All, Just a few weeks ago i bought a Lenovo H520 (non s version) with these specs:
intel core i5 3350p
4gb Ram
Nvidia gt 630 2gb ddr3
windows 8 64bit

my question is, Can i upgrade my graphics card to a nvidia gtx650? and i have trouble finding information about my PSU , so i dont know if the psu is enough for the gtx 650.

(and for your information i bought the non s version that doesnt come with a slim case. )

Solution

630 is a pretty low power video card, it will run on a 280 wat tpower supply. Opening the case to look at the power supply won't do anything more to the warranty than replacing the video card. How did you plan on replacing the video card if you are not sure if you want to open the case? If you have a 280 watt power supply, I suggest a Readeon 7750, faster than the 630 and uses low power. Make sure you read setup instructions before swapping the cards, many people don't and end up with driver issues.

I couldn't find any information on your PSU. You'll have to open you PC case to find out.

Usually these systems use the minimum power supply they can get away with but it might be enough for the GTX 650.

The GT 630 requires 20A and 350W minimum while GTX 650 requires 20A and 400W minimum.

Open the case, look on the power supply, you will find the info there. Also make sure your case has enough space for whatever card you want to put in there.

i just posted the same question to the lenovo forum, and it said that my model has a 280watt psu which is wierd... because the gt630 requires 300 watt..... anyway if i open up my pc will it do anything to the warranty?

Did you ever find out the size of the PSU?
