I am wondering which of these would be better for wow gaming. I do play bf3 but 90% is wow

Monitors are crazy with such minor differences it seems.

Could i please get a reason why the samsung would be the best of the three? It actually has the highest refresh rate of the three also. As of now I am leaning towards the Benq just because i do know some professional wow players that use them.

Let me know why you think the samsung would be the best even with the highest refresh rate.

thank you

It has the best quality panel for colour quality. Get the BenQ if you prefer.

So you think even with the higher response time it is a better monitor for gaming in general or just WoW gaming?

How much of a difference would it be? I can't tell if the samsung is a IPS or TN. Would it be a IPS? Or in between the two?

Thank you for your help

How is a high refresh rate a bad thing? 120hz or 144hz refresh is often considered an advantage, but I don't think the Samsung has that. If you meant the response time, ignore that number. There's no standardization for how manufacturers measure that and trim it down to a single number, so it's not meaningful or comparable.

I was a bit confused too at first but came to the same conclusion. I'm often explaining about response times and just couldn't be bothered this time :-) Thanks. Fredo, I'm actually not sure what panel type it uses (let me know if you find out) but you can see from the viewing angles (178x178) that it's not TN. Being a Samsung it's unlikely to be IPS so it's probably a PLS panel (a new panel type Samsung recently developed to compete with IPS).

Thank you and sorry about the confusion I did mean response time not refresh rate. Also I think I will go with the Samsung since the price is the best and IPS does seem better than TN. It does not have speakers though which isn't a big deal.

I agree with sam_p_lay that the Samsung is the best of those. I can't find specs to confirm if it's a PLS monitor, but it's definitely not a TN panel, while this comparison indicates that the other two are. I don't see any meaningful advantages to those others.

Haha yeah Samsung don't have the highest standards for support staff :-) I definitely still think this is the best option. It's the only one of the three I'd use personally.

I have a Samsung S23C570H. I got it from Costco, who are far and away my preferred computer-hardware dealers (I think the Samsung cost me around $150, and they have a 90-DAY return policy!)

The Samsung drivers did not install properly on my elderly Toshiba Satellite with Intel 915GM graphics hardware. And yes, the "Support" staff at Samsung were WORSE than useless! The guy I talked to had very little idea about what was going on; and when he finally admitted that he was stumped, I had to ASK him to escalate it! He said he would escalate to his "Research" department; but their callback time was "up to two business days." (I called him on Thursday, and no response yet.) Fortunately, I was able to MAKE it work by forcing the laptop to display on the monitor ONLY. For some reason, this forced the graphics system to recognize the Samsung drivers already installed.

I also want to mention DTDCalc, if you have Intel graphics hardware and it doesn't natively support a monitor's resolution. This utility is no longer well-supported, but it did exactly what I needed it to do. (If you have a fancy gamer's graphic card, probably the right resolution is readily available.)

I do have this question about Refresh Rate: the only refresh rate offered by Samsung is 60 Hz, and in fact that's the only choice offered by their driver (but, as described above, there are ways AROUND that limitation: DTDCalc.) I got the sense from the discussion above that this monitor might be able to support a higher refresh rate. Although the 6o Hz. looks pretty good, I know that higher refresh rates usually look better. Could anyone elaborate further on this? Can I bump up the refresh rate on this monitor without SMOKING it?

Thanks,
George

P.S. I did confirm through other research that the Samsung _is_ indeed a PLS type. This is generally considered to be NOT as good as IPS.
