Hi guys

So my question is what is the best way to change to Intel HD graphics of my i5-4670k and back to my asus gtx 770.

I have a laptop which also has intel graphics and a dedicates amd card, and to change between them i only have to right click on desktop, go to catalyst control center and click the button of which gpu i wanna use.

Cheers

Solution
The GTX 770 will downclock when it's full power isn't needed. It's saves power when it can. There is no reason to switch between the Intel graphics and the 770.

first of all, if you have a gtx 770, there should be no reason for you to ever switch between that and the onboard GPU. the gtx 770 is ridiculously better than intel's HD4600. switching over to a dedicated graphics card on a desktop PC is as simple as plug and play... plug the gtx770 into the primary PCI-E 3.0 slot, boot, and load the drivers off the disc that came with it.

once the NVidia driver is installed, you will have option to assign the PhysX card via the NVidia control panel, and if you have Virtual MVP software, you can even choose to use the intergrated HD4600 as an additional GPU that works with your dedicated gtx 770. I wouldn't recommend either. the gtx 770 is fine on its own and will handle PhysX calculations better than the HD4600.

so... plug n play. driver disk. make sure the monitor is plugged into the dedicated card, and you are golden.

if you're saying that its already plugged in and you somehow aren't using it or whatever, I would need further clarification to provide a better answer.

I know the gtx 770 is far better than the intel XD, i wanted to change to the intel just because of energy saving, because i work in my computer and while i'm working ( which would be like 8 hours a day ) i dont need the power of my GTX :p.

But as the other user said seems like i would not be able to do the trick like i do on my laptop.

Anyway, thanks for the clarification. :)

well, if power saving is the reasoning behind this, you should know that the GTX770 wont draw unless its in use from an application... so it wont drain any more power than it would if you were using he HD4600 if you aren't gaming. windows doesn't use a lot of graphics resources, so your card really wont draw any power if you aren't gaming. seems impractical to switch between the two at all.

Humm, yeh now that i come to think of it the 770 power draw in idle is just about 10W, even if the Intel would have like 2W it wouldn't make a big diference overall. I'll just stick with the 770 full time :p .

Ok guys thanks for the help ;)
