Mobo Soundchip vs. Sound Card?

I have that sound card, and it was quite an improvement over onboard realtek on a rampage III formula. I used to be able to hear the electrical noise from my computer on sound output, and people informed me that the sound input was terrible. Bought the Xonar and everything sounded better, and there was no longer any noise on the microphone.

ASUS drivers for that thing are terrible. Download the UNi Xonar Drivers and it makes a good mid-range card.

(Supposedly my new maximus hero has an excellent onboard sound card, but I am still using the Xonar.)
