My system is a stock PB iXtreme X2711; Core2 Quad 6600 @ 2.4GHz; 2.0GB RAM; EZ Cool 550w PSU; Vista 32 bit sp2. 22" LG monitor with D-SUB connectors: Foxcon PT8907MB – 2.0 8ERS2H
My Geforce 8500gt 256mb has stopped working. Graphics still display, but at a very low level. I guess this is the onboard graphics?
However, i have tried to install two different new cards (hd7750 & gt640) and my system doesn't detect either of them. I have uninstalled old and installed new drivers from CD's but on switch on the system will not even boot.......no beep! & no video output (no signal) I have also tried various outputs, VGA, DVI, HD.
I have tried disabling onboard graphics, though my MB doesn't have any VGA output other than through the PCIe slot via the graphics card VGA port, so this does have me a little confused. My 8500gt still allows poor video output through VGA. I suspect that my old MB only supports certain graphics cards of its day. I have also looked on the Foxconn support site for updates, to no avail. I have sourced an 8600GT 1 gb which would suit my system but am reluctant to purchase another card incase i have a similar, no video output, problem.
Would someone be willing to shed some light on this problem for me please?
Much appreciated.

I read foxconn and not detecting and instantly thought, "new motherboard."
But since you said it won't even boot, then it might be your power supply.
You can always get a cheap biostar motherboard just to be safe and not spend too much money.
But you're probably right about the motherboard only supporting certain cards of its time, but i can't tell because i can't find anything on that motherboard online.
