connect pc to laptop monitor

i'd like to connect my pc to my sony vaio laptop via VGA xtions in order to use its monitor instead of buying another one. it's appearing that i need a KVM switch, but i have no idea how to do this or what kind of KVM switch i need.

can someone offer me some instruction?

A KVM switch allows you to control multiple computers with a single keyboard, monitor and mouse. However, the monitor you use would need a video in connector. Unless your laptop has video in capability, it won't work.
