Hi all,

current build
- Phenom II 965 X4 - OC'd sometimes to 4.2 GHz Been blue screening so set everything to stock settings 3.4 GHz
- 4GB corsair DDR2
- 150GB WD HDD
- EVGA GTX 560 Ti - OC'd profiles for gaming
- Corsair H60 cooler
- Antec Earthwatts 650 PSU
- Gigabyte 790x-UD4P motherboard

I like next gen games. I built my system a while back to max crysis2 and whatnot, skyrim, witcher 2, BF 3. I wanna upgrade to be able to play Metro last light, witcher 3, and all the awesome upcoming games like watchdogs, BF4, gta5, etc.

I wanna be able to max stuff out for a few years to come, ideally :D.

Based on my current build, I am hoping to gain some insight into if this were your system, what would you upgrade to get the most bang for your buck and accomplish my future maxing out game goals. My budget is between $500-800. I shop at Newegg , always :)

I am stuck on what to do to optimize my upgrade. . . I could get an 8 core AMD but would have to upgrade my mobo becuause sockets are outdated. Conversely, I know i could go the intel route and get a new mobo, cpu and ram.

Also, I know my Graphics card could be updated, and dont know whether to get a single card or sli out my 560 but dont know if that can handle a lot of the DX11 and tesselation features in current and upcoming games at max settings.

Many thanks to anyone reading this for taking the time to check out my situation.

If you're using DDR2, you're looking at CPU mobo and RAM no matter what. If you're willing to wait, I'd wait for steamroller given that the next consoles are using amd architecture, and then making a choice between intel and amd. You could definitely get a better graphics card now though. Doing that you could get more graphics than you would have.

Supposedly at the same time towards the end of the year amd's releasing their next set of graphics cards, so really it's up to you.

I'd probably actually not go much over $300 for a card, for the sole reason that they fall in price too fast. I got a 7870 for like 320 after rebates and such last march, and they are significantly cheaper now.

Looking at your storage solution, I'd also get an SSD and the biggest WD black drive (for the 5 year warranty) you can. Given the size I'm hoping that's an old raptor, and not just a really old drive.
