Approximate Purchase Date: Whenever I've got a good build ready to buy.

Budget Range: ~$1000 (I can stretch that a little higher if needed) After Rebates; After Shipping

System Usage from Most to Least Important: School (In an IT Software Engineering program), Gaming, surfing the internet, watching movies

Are you buying a monitor: Yes (Only if I can fit it in the budget. If I can keep the build below $1000 then I might buy two monitors)(Willing to go up to ~$1400 to include two monitors)

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com, tigerdirect.com, amazon.com (pretty much anywhere I can get the best price)

Location: Dayton, Nevada (US)

Parts Preferences: I prefer Intel because I've always had it and used it. I may consider AMD if a good argument can be brought forward.

Overclocking: Maybe (I've never done it but am very interested in it)

SLI or Crossfire: SLI (Again I prefer Intel unless a good argument can be brought forward) (It can be SLI ready for future additions)

Your Monitor Resolution: Don't know the current resolution but it is not a widescreen but is an LCD. I would prefer to keep it for my old computer for my son if a new monitor (or two) can be added to the build

Additional Comments: I'm up for whatever can be added into those money constraints.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: I want to be able to possible run games like WoW and Eve Online and stuff like that without any trouble but also be able to go through my whole IT program with no hiccups. Plus I love newer, bigger, badder tech.

I already have this case: Thermaltake Chaser MK-I
I also have this keyboard: Logitech G15 Keyboard
I have this mouse: Logitech Anywhere Mouse MX (This I could possibly upgrade for a better mouse for gaming if you have any suggestions)

Thanks for all your help everyone. If you need to know anything else feel free to ask.

The Monitor would be separate from the $1000. I was saying that I could go over the $1000 to add a monitor.

Wouldn't teh 16Gb of RAM and the 800W PSU be a little overkill? From some of the other stuff that I've been reading it looks like I should be able to do very nicely with only 8Gb of RAM and somewhere in teh range of 650W PSU. Any other comments?

What size PSU would you suggest? Is there anything else in the build that looks like it could use a tweak? Is it going to be cool enough for possible overclocking in the future?

Are there no more suggestions? Any suggestions from anyone on the best brands for these products. That seems to be my hardest choices to make. I now know somewhat what parts I need for the build but am I going to cheep on the brands for them not to last? Or am I going to expensive when I can get a better price?

Ok. Thank you. I figured I would stick with Intel and Nvidia but the rest I had no idea. Thanks for all your help. I think I know what I'll be going after now. I've been reading around a lot the last couple of days and with your info I feel much more informed. Do you have a personal favorite brand for CPU Cooler?
