I am in the market for a cheap but good CPU cooler as I don't really plan to overclock, if I do, something light, like 4.0ghz. I have a i7 4770K processor. I'm debating between the 212 Evo and the TC12DX, I haven't been able to find any good comparisons anywhere. Which would be best? Thanks in advance!

with Evo, u can reach upto 65-70c with 4.0ghz OC. If you have good airflow in the case with couple of other fans, you can go with Evo but than again if u feel like fiddling to 4.3-4.5ghz in the future, u wont be able to do that with Evo so my suggestion would be to be future safe with phanteks. rest if with you :)

Phanteks is quite superior in cooling performance and is available in colors to suit ur preference. However, it might create a problem with ram slots by blocking them since it is huge.

If u have an ATX board with 4 ram slots and u r planning to use one or two of them, u r good to go with phanteks. If you are planning to use all 4 slots, u might face trouble. but i would recommend the phanteks due to its cooling.

Thanks, I don't think I'll really have a problem with the ram, I'm using Crucial Ballistix VLP. I'm using 8gb right now and don't really plan to add another 8. I can get the Phanteks for $35 and the Evo for $20. ($15 gift card that came with 4770K) Without overclocking, or a 4.0ghz overclock would temps be above 70c on the Evo? I could use that saved $15 for the Steam summer sale, haha!
