First question: is it a mandatory updating that is restarting it?

Have you checked your temps? Most of the time is high temp of the video card or CPU to blame.

Your computer might be going into safe mode. It might be locking up because the heat sensors determine the max temp before it can be damaged so It restarts itself to prevent damage or just powers off

How are your temps? What brand / model of the pwoersupply?

My guess is you don't have the latest drivers for your card(I know your card is old). Or the card is overheating and your pc is restarting because of that. Is the fan still running on your Graphics card and is there a lot of dust build up?

Repeating what smeeze said: is there dust build up and do you see the fan running?

Edit: not smeeze, I mean fatal

This is a vital question. How much Ram do you have installed? Because if its really little you could be crashing the computer from that.

The games should start no matter what video card you have. What psu do you have?

How much VRAM does your current graphica card have? Because minimum requirements for games are 512mb video ram and older GPUs might not support that

Oh....not a good one. That's a pretty bad psu. The only thing to do is to upgrade your video card's drivers and if you still have the same problem, I suggest asking one of your friend to give you their psu to test your system.

Best solution

If you are 100% sure the temps of your entire system , especially the CPU and video card, are in normal limit and you have the latest driver, then it's most likely that your psu can't handle your system's usage or you have a defective psu.
You can try using 3dmark to stress separately your cpu and video and check the temps separately for each and also see which one is actually crushing your system.

Well darn 512mb you better be running on ultra low and not using anything else on that graphics card.

@TechRoxxo: Use 3dmark to test your system. This will at least clarify if is the video card low specs/defective video card or your psu.

ok so do u want the scores? I did Ice Storm and Cloudgate
Ice Storm:
Graphics- 28409
Physics- 32296

Cloud Gate:
Graphics- 2690
Physics- 2538
my max gpu temp was 69c also

So 3dmark didn't crush your system. That tells us one thing: your psu and video card are ok. So only thing is to stress your CPU and if everything is still ok, looks like your video card might be too old to play those games.

I've checked the system requirements for Borderlands 2 and your card should be fine. It's strange how 3dmark is fine but not the games. What's your full system configuration?

Oh , sorry. Your system should be fine. What is strange is why in 3dmark is fine but in the games is crushing. The only thing I can suggest now is to try a different driver.

ID like to tell you that the 4100 FXis not a very good CPU. I had one and it bottlenecked my single GTX 660 and I replaced it with an i5. look at your CPU heatsink is there dust build up?
