Wow guys, u dont even answer the guys question.. repeating haswell like frenzied monkeys aint gonna help.

i was standing between that question a few days ago and had to choose the same as u (gt740m with either a i7-3537u or i5-3230m.

i ended up getting the Asus K56CB with the i7 and the gt740m with a sreen res of 1366x768 (higher res would give me lower fps in game, and since the screen is native 1366x768, it doesn't look pixeletad. so far, i feel its a very competent and fast processor altough its slower clocked even at turbo mode (2.8ghz or 3.1ghz single core). everything ive...

This could be due to the 1mb extra cache (3 vs 4mb for i7). Teamfortress2 gives me 80-120fps everything maxxed except for AA, havent had time yet to play around too much :p

Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army has given me around 50-60 fps on high.

Far Cry 3, Ive seen youtube vids of high settings at around 40-60 fps.. not bad.

Now my electricity bill will be lower since this laptop draws 17w i believe.

and from reading reviews, it seems like the 3230m and the 3537u perform identical performance wise, i read the i7 single core performance was just a few points above the i5 performance.

The more important question you should be looking at is; How hot will the laptop run when under stress?
My Asus K56cb ran at 65-70c during gaming (max temp 105c) on a flat surface. gpu was around 75-80c. remember my laptop is almost ultrabook thin, hence the slightly higher temps.
however, seeing its so small, i bought a cooling pad for those really long gaming sessions without it taking up to much room in my backpack. also installed a Samsung 840 250gb SSD for a really smooth ride ;)
for me it was important that i wouldnt void my warranty when i opened up the backside to install the SSD, along with the gt740 gpu. Asus was the only company that could promise me this, hence i sacrificed going for a somewhat thicker laptop with, most likely, better cooling.

Either way u cant go wrong! i think these processors paired with the 740gt make a really swell combo for gaming on the go.

Take Care! :)
