After getting my hardrive repaired, my laptop drops the internet signal after stepping out of the room the router is in.

Before getting my laptop's hardrive replaced I could take it anywhere in my house and it would stay connected to my wireless network. Now, however, I cannot take it outside of the room my router is in. I tried updating the drivers, but to no avail. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thank you.

Hi,

You most likely have a defective mobo and that cause problem to hard drives.

Try deleting the wireless network profile and reconnect. Try resetting the router. Reinstall the wireless card driver.

If you don't get any results from there, you can buy a usb n wireless network card to rule out that the wireless card.

Firstly, it would be great to determine where things are going wrong. From what you're telling us it appears that your signal strength is very weak, and becomes unusable once you've stepped away from the router. What is the signal strength like, when you're in the room with the router? It *should* be a peak/full strength.
