Strange GPU issue

I bought a Zotac GTX 660 Ti AMP edition in March of this year off of Newegg. A month after I received it, while playing RIFT and Defiance, my display would go blank for a few seconds then come back with significant FPS loss. If I minimized to my desktop for about ten seconds then went back to the game, everything would be back to normal. I requested an RMA from Zotac and sent the brand new card to them. They sent me a replacement a month later, and once received, I installed it. For the week that I had this replacement, 80% of the time when I restarted my computer, I would get the one long beep followed by three short beeps telling me that no video card was detected, as well as a solid red light from the VGA LED on the mother board. Contacted Zotac and received an RMA. I sent them the card, and they claim to have tested it and found no problems with the *refurbished* card, so they sent it back. Problem still occurs. If I start my computer, everything comes up fine. If I restart my computer for any reason (driver updates, windows updates, etc.) the beeps and light occur. If my computer were to go to sleep, the display won't wake up, but the computer itself does. I have a Zotac GTX 550 Ti that works perfectly fine whether it's starting, restarting, or sleeping. Not sure how to fix this issue, if it can be fixed at all. I updated the drivers for the card, and updated my BIOS per the opinion of the manufacturer of the mobo, Asus. Can anyone give any insight as to why this might be happening? Thanks, in advance.

Solution
sometimes a bad restart can cause the motherboard to act funny and not boot correctly until you completely power down the system, i have had it on occasion because of dodgey software or a driver gone bad.

it could be a driver issue, download driver fusion and install it and download the latest nvidia drivers.
uninstall current drivers and do not restart.
run driver fusion and clean nvidia drivers then restart.
install latest driver.

once you done this just to check if its a driver issue.

I just finished trying your suggestion, but it didn't work. Restarting my computer still results in no signal to my monitor, as well as the beeps and the solid red motherboard light. I can restart my computer all I want with my GTX 550 Ti with no issues. I run into issues with my GTX 660 Ti.

Yeah, about that....the card I have currently was the replacement for my brand new card. This is the exact card I sent to Zotac with an RMA and they sent it back to me. Basically, it goes: I had problems with N126 card so I got an RMA and sent it to Zotac. Zotac replaced it with N124 card. I had issues with N124 card and got an RMA to send it back. I sent it back to Zotac, and they tested it and said they found no issues, so they sent N124 back to me, leaving me with the same situation. Requesting a new RMA, in my opinion at this point, would be pointless as they would more than likely send N124 right back to me. Essentially, I think I wasted $300 but was hoping someone at Tom's would be able to help me. Thank you for your assistance and suggestions, maul. :) I'll take this as an experience and just won't purchase Zotac again.

only other thing i can think of if you havent done is to put it into a different pcie x16 port if your motherboard has one and see if it helps.

is it possible to try the card in a different computer and see if it has the same problem?

I have three PCI-e slots on my motherboard, the top two of which are (by manufacturer specifications) for an independent GPU. I've tried the card in both slots, and get the same result. I wish I could try it in another rig, but I only have the one to test on.
