Help With My Second Build

Hey guys,

I am building my second PC, my first one is three years old, time to upgrade.

A few things to consider:

1) I would like it to be cool and quiet.
2) My budget is about $1500 USD
3) I would like it to play games on maxed settings if possible.

Here's where I am at so far: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1fpPj

All thoughts and opinions welcome! Thanks for your help.

Solution
I've some other thought. Now AMD HD 6970 Graphic Card is lowering price and it sells only $160 per card. Get a pair of them and crossfire it. They could provide great gaming power. @jinayhvora is right. Dump 3770K and get a i5-3570k instead. There is no need to use 8 threads (but only 4 cores instead) for games. Probably get a 850w PSU if u want crossfire two HD 6970

a few thoughts
1. if u're using it only for gaming, get an i5 instead, the i7 offers no advantage over it in gaming, use the money saved to get a GTX 770
2. 8GB of RAM is more than enough, but get 1600MHz
3. the wired network card is not required, that functionality is integrated into the motherboard

I did not see the memory, yes as he says 1600 mem is the way to go...

They just did a memory test here to see if it would extend SSD life, it looks like it would, so maybe 16GB is not a bad idea.

At least HD 6970 is a last-gen flagship and now is selling in a bargain price. GTX 770 is a new launched card and probably the most expensive in its life. Two cards could knock down one non-flagship new card (The values shows that).

Here is the comparison: http://www.hwcompare.com/14681/geforce-gtx-770-vs-radeon-hd-6970/

Just express my thought.

I've heard running two cards makes things noisier and hotter, which is in direct violation of one of my "things to consider." Have I been misled on that front?

Wow, thanks for all that. Don't even know what I was thinking with the network card. Would the i7 be better for graphical purposes like Photoshop? Or possibly music production/ recording?

Oh and it what cases would the additional RAM - 16GB instead of 8GB be useful?

Hey guys, thanks for all your help! Two things for you:

1) Can someone tell me if running two cards will be significantly hotter and louder? I am in a small bonus room above the basement and when my PC and Plasma are on, it gets up to like 78 - 80 degrees, ridic.

2) Check out my other thread about maybe upgrading my current unit and letting me know your thoughts there: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1731488/upgrade-build.html

Yep 2 cards need more power, are louder and generate more heat. The best single card set up for your target cost would be a GTX-770 in my opinion. For an SLI I think the GTX760 is a sweet set up right now.

In the $160 range you talked about the GTX 650Ti Boost is right there with a HD6970, I would not recommend either of these in a $1500 rig and AMD has XFire issues right now anyway.
