Hi everyone, i reinstalled windows on my laptop, and i am giving it away i want to make sure all my old files are deleted and not backed up is there any way to double check this? i have 700GB HDD, 683 GB is free space, 15 GB is on a OEM PARTITION, where can i check for a a backed up or not?

Solution
It does not back up your data when performing a factory recovery (if it did this time, that would be the first I've heard of it).

You can navigate to the OS drive (usually C: in 'Computer'), double click to open it, open the 'Users' folder', and then look for the Windows username you previously were using. Or, just poke around through the directories and see if there is leftover data.

You may also try searching (Windows start button - search bar) and just type in some random file names you may recall you had on your account. Or search for a .old folder.

alright, i searched most of the C drive and couldn't find anything, so if there was backed up files, they would be there? and is there any other way you can suggest that i re install windows 7 to ensure a complete factory install with nothing but factory files ?

Yes, if anything was backed up, it would have been backed up to that drive by default. Make sure there's no partition separate on your drive just for data - the factory reset will have only affected the OS partition.

Factory reset is best for what you want - whether by factory partition or by recovery discs. You did well. :)
