I've got a brand new ASUS Sabertooth Z87 with i7-4770K CPU, Cooler Master Hyper 212 Pro CPU fan, and 16 GB of G.Skill Ripjaws F3-1600C9D DRAM. Nothing else for now.

I've hooked up the HDMI port to a monitor, the power button connector, the case speaker connector, the CPU, CPU fan, memory, and the power supply (Sparkle Power Magna 900). This should be a minimum to get to the BIOS.

The power standby LED comes on. At power on the CPU fans come on, but I get no display on the monitor. I've tried a DisplayPort cable too, no effect. I've taken out the memory, no change. I've reset the RTC jumper as described on ASUS' website, no change. Although it refuses to power on when the jumper is in the reset position (which is correct), so I know the jumper is in the right spot. I get no beeps, no matter what, none for no VGA, for lacking memory, for anything. I get no LED's for memory/VGA fail.

I also get no indication that when I plug my USB keyboard into any of the USB ports on the back that it is really hooking up. On power on, my kb has no NumLock or CapsLock light come on.

Even without a display hooked up, I should be getting a short beep if it completes a memory test, or long beeps if something is wrong.

You got it, sir. It's been about ten years since I built a rig. I hooked up the extra 4 pin connector, but not the extra extra 8 pin connector on the side nearest the CPU. Thank you. It's booting now.
