I have a very old desktop computer (HP Pavilion) which is now totally out dated. I still have a PCI slot in it which is unused.

Now can I connect my ATI Raedeon HD 5400 Series?
by using two cables :
1. PCI to PCI-E x1
2. PCI-E x1 to PCI-E x16

I am afraid that it wouldn't work.
Please tell if it does.
~Thanks

Where did you find a PCI to PCI-E cable? They are quite different and non trivial to convert.

I have exactly the same problem! I am trying to resurrect an old pc. I have a spare ATI Radeon 5750 (PCIE 16) but my motherboard has only AGP or PCI. There do seem to be a few pciE to pci converters on eBay or amazon. Not sure if they will work though!

If not might just have to see if I can pick up a cheap pci based gpu. Not sure it's worth it.

Now this does not matter, I've got a mobo with 3 PCI-Ex16 Slots. (ASUS P8Z77-V)
