Last night I was updating my windows and everything went smoothly from the installation to the reboot. Then a MSI live update 5 notification came up saying "your motherboards BIOS is out of date and should be downloaded and installed". so I installed the BIOS update and a PCIE update for the motherboard too. Then once both had been downloaded and program telling me all programs must be closed for the installation of the BIOS date, and that is what I did then the program automatically shut down my system and began the update which went fine as far as I could tell. but then after the system restarted a blue screen occurred so I thought nothing to worry about just restart my PC and that should sort it and it didn't all that has happened since is then is either a blue screen on start up or the MSI logo appears then it takes me to windows repair or launch windows and option will either take me back to the start again or blue screen.

What I have tried so far:
1) Press F8 and use all options from there and all options either lead to system reboot or blue screen.
2) Use my windows Disc to try a system repair but my system wont load the disc at all even when the BIOS is set to boot from Disc
3) Shorting out the BIOS battery as MSI suggested on their customer help line.

Please let me know if you have any idea on how to solve this issue as I have a lot of work on my hard drive and I need to get it off soon.

Yes, please post the Stop error code you are given on the blue screen.

On another note, the first thing that comes to mind is AHCI mode in the BIOS. If Windows was installed while that was off, and your BIOS update now defaults to turning that feature on, you will blue screen on boot up until the appropriate changes are made to the Windows installation.

You will need to go through your BIOS until you find the section concerning the SATA ports on the motherboard. Usually you are presented a few options for how the SATA ports function, IDE, AHCI, or as RAID. For troubleshooting purposes, I would recommend setting the SATA ports to IDE mode for now, and see if that allows you to boot successfully into Windows.

i tried using the flash software on the memory stick and my computer said remove device then press any key to restart it even though my motherboard was set to boot from memory stick

After resetting your BIOS, you need to go through it and verify the settings available to you. Make sure the time and date are correctly set, as this can throw some software into an upset state, until it is rectified.

Things such as memory timing, which may be trivial, could be causing instability issues after having reset your BIOS. Normally the timings are auto-detected, but an updated BIOS could have different values being used.

Since you can't seem to boot Windows, you need to verify you can even do more basic things.

Try running a program to test your system's RAM and verify it is functioning without error:

Memtest86:

http://www.memtest86.com/

Memtest86+:

http://www.memtest.org/

These tests generally are booted from a CD or from a USB memory stick. If you can't even boot from these, I would look further at a corrupted BIOS, bad setting, or malfunctioning piece of hardware.

Having been inside the machine, have you verified all of the fans are properly spinning when the computer is running? An overheating part can easily cause a blue screen, and in the time it takes to boot, overheating can easily occur.

On another note, were you experiencing any anomalies, strange, or otherwise problematic behavior of your machine before this incident? Had it ever given you a blue screen before, and how often, if yes, and did you have any indication as to why?
