This site will have some information about the GT 720M. Seems to be in Class 3 on the site, so rather mid-range. Appears to be a bit more powerful than the Intel HD 4000, but still nothing too extraordinary.

You could Google "GeForce GT 720M Assassins Creed" or so to find what you want. There is probably some information lurking somewhere.

This card may be severely crippled 'cause the memory bandwidth is limited by 64-bit. The bandwidth will bottlenecked the GPU performance (The bandwidth is even worse than your HD 4000 if you installed 2 memories and enable dual channel). And the GPU demanding game like Battlefield or Crysis 3 won't be perform well in even mid setting. 2GB graphic memory is just advertising, it won't do much help if your GPU is weak and even the memory bandwidth is halfed (compared to GT 540M, it got probably 25.6GB while yours got only 12.8GB or 14.4GB only)

you can play normal and casual games easily but about your concern, you can play modern games in low settings-lowmedium settings. you can even lower the resolution to get some more frames. i have crappy i3 laptop and i can play modern games at low and low resolution. you've just asked if you can play games, and the answer is yes but the settings must be in low and must also lower the resolution a bit.
