I bought a new rig and have not yet installed windows7, but my gigabyte bios is showing that my WDC green(1tb version) has (0.0mb), also when I try to install win 7 it says that I have 0mb unallocated space, cmd<diskpart shows 800bytes

is it because that it is unformatted or my hdd is faulty

my specs
gigabyte ga z77m d3h
8gb ram
i5 3750k
WD cavier green 1TB

I showed my frnd and after seeing in BIOS that it has 0.0mb, he suggested like you that I should use that in another pc as slave drive then install it from his pc if it works, but I don't have any clue I can use my hdd as slave hdd in my frnds pc

i dont mean use it permanently in another pc, just use it in the other pc to check the drive is functioning. using disk management.

I meant the same thing, I should test my hdd in another pc to see if it is working or not, but I don't know how to use this hd in another pc as slave hdd, and then test it if I works and partition it from there

if you are on windows 7 type disk managment into the start menu search

crate and format hard disk partitions should appear and select it, disk managment should appear and should show any drives in the pc.

if I try diskpart from cmd then it shows that I have only one disk with 800bytes
my bios are also showing my WDC as 0mb
