Hello!

I have a Trinity A8 and I've heard that an A10 can XFire with an 7750 so can my A8 do that too or should I go with 6670?

Solution
It does work folks. It's a form of Hybrid Crossfire. Something AMD have been working on for their portable systems (mostly Laptop) been working since Catalyst 13.1 or 13.2 if memory serves me right.

Interesting. I'm still not a believer. As someone pointed out you are asking the older VLIW4 APU to CF with the new GCN. Not even desktop cards support that. Why AMD would allow this is beyond me. A better source then some people in a forum would be great.

Actually you're wrong, It is possible. There was a thread posted in the GPU section not long ago of a person who had benchmarked the setup and he was getting good results. It works

well APU's and 6670 also have different architectures, VLIW4 (apu) and VLIW5 (any HD 6K thats not a 6900 series)

Also VLIW5 goes back to HD4K and 5K, HD 6800 have refined VLIW5 that makes them tech more advanced than previous incarnations.

If Lucid could do this through software with MVP, or mobos with LucidLogix chips; then im inclined to believe that AMD can make it work in house.

VLIW4 is one generation behind. We can doubt we want, but just googling this topic there are several other forums sites with people reporting this.

Also i dont think random people are going to photoshop and alter videos just to fool people. My opinion is that the 13.6 drivers or whatever had this enabled for laptops with HD7700 in them and some user just figured out how to make it work with desktop cards

Interesting thats for sure! But this is the internet so grain of salt ect, this is kind of big news don't you think that the amd spindoctors sales steam would be blabbing this everywhere?

I wish I had money to spend on testing something like this but I'll wait for a reputable site to report it rather than forums, cool find though.

VLIW4 and 5 are extremely similar. Easy to get CF to work together. VLIWx and GCN are very different Arch's. Much harder to get to work together. Can be done probably. But as someone mentioned in one of those threads even if you do get it working, the MS and other CF problems must be horrible.

Anything from the driver release notes or anything from AMD would help me believe. Otherwise I'm not sure.

That's the thing. There is nothing official. It just sort of appeared with Catalyst 13.1 and 13.2.

I mean even if you go here you'll see that only a 6670 is able to Crossfire with an A10 according to the AMD website. It seems that AMD has been working on their drivers and that generally means a new product is coming soon (could be a glitch but it still works).
