Power on problem, CPU warms up?

My P7H55M is dead :(

It had been in its crusty, hot case for years, and i finally decided to put it into a TV I have. Once transplanted, it would not start.

The light comes on the motherboard, but nothing when I hit the power button. I tried the "Green to Ground" trick on the power supply, and the CPU fan does start up. I took the heatsink off and noticed the CPU does warm up, so I believe the CPU is still OK.

Now, I have been having problems recently with this motherboard not wanting to fire up from a cold state. I am starting to believe there are some capacitors going out... I have tested a few with the crude method using a DMM, but I really cant tell much with that. In a few days I will have a capacitance meter, so that should help.

Anything else I can try? I left the power supply hooked up and "On" all night, hopefully to warm the board up to see if it just doesn't like a cold boot... I'll find out in a minute if that works.

Thanks in advance.

WORKS!

(yes, I had tried 3 different, known-working psu's.)

It was the BIOS/CMOS jumper. It had fallen off. No wonder I was having weird boot problems. Fires up every time now :)

I feel embarrassed, but then again I post because it seems like every time I ask a question I figure it out right away. Is what it is, but I am thankful my hardware isn't on it's last legs like it seemed to be.

check out my new "computer-vision" :D

this is the back with the cover on, and you see where I added the power switch. Screwed up on the drilling, explained below. That's why you see a smudge on the left edge of the switch. I do plan on adding two usb ports off the computer next to that power switch, hopefully I will do a better job.

That mistake at the switch, doing the LAST thing to the beast last night, I ran the drill bit into the TV's motherboard!! It got caught and drove in before I could stop it. I don't question why the TV won't boot now, but the problem is I destroyed 2 caps and 1 resistor... and there is no documentation as to what those values need to be. It could easily end up being a $100 mistake as I might just have to buy a new board :/
