Hi, I went to connect to my sons router via my Vista laptop, when I asked it to connect, a yellow ! was over the routers info and laptop said it would not allow a connection because it was unsecured, it didn't even give me the choice of "connect anyway"and that the router needed to be reconfigured. They have a desktop wired to the router and a Roku wireless with router(netgeear). Why does theirs work? My laptop has no problems otherwise with wired or wireless secured or unsecured. Pat

well for starters i would check to see whether or not the wireless was in fact unsecured.if it is you need to configure your router.you dont need the neighbour using your connection for god knows what. after you configure router security connect your laptop using the password.

Hi Aldan, Yes if it was mine I would reconfigure, maybe he'll let me fix his, I'll see. My question though, is why did it not let me connect either by unsecured or ask for a passphrase? I'll show him your suggestion and see if we can go from there. Thanks

HI Yes. since then I've connected to both a secure and unsecured wireless. Thanks again, I will show him your thoughts and go from there. That was my feeling, the router, but wanted a more experienced acknowlegement of the situation. Thanks again Pat
