As you said you have a Microcenter near, I recommend trying to find a CPU/motherboard deal there. I live in the UK but have heard great things about these deals at Microcenter.

Please by all means suggest a case.. I was leaning toward that case because I have a couple Antec twelve hundred cases in my home now. If there is a better case out there that offers good cooling/air flow the please suggest away.

Sure thing! Not exactly sure on US prices, but these should all fall around the $100 mark:

Corsair 300R, 400R, 500R, NZXT Phantom 410, NZXT Tempest 410, Fractal Design Define R4, Coolermaster Storm Scout 2, Storm Enforcer. Depends on what you consider to be a case you want to be looking at and on-show a lot of the time, but these are all great options.

SO my question about this build is.. does Haswell really make a difference? Does it run hotter than the previous generation? I mean I dont HAVE to have the newest stuff.. I just want him to be able to max out what he can ya know?

Haswell does run hotter than Ivy, but because you're not overclocking it really won't matter - the Intel stock cooler will handle it just fine. You could always grab a 3470 and an H77 board, but they're pretty much evenly priced with Ivy now in the states, so it doesn't really matter.
