Hello,

I come to you with multiple problems.

My System:

Motherboard:Foxconn 45CMX/45GMX/45CMX-K (Socket 775)
RAM: 3GB DDR3
Graphics Card: Asus Radeon HD 6670 1GB GDDR5
Processor: Intel Dual Core E2180 2.00ghz

Backstory:

I recently bought a new graphics card (Asus Radeon HD 6670 1GB GDDR5) to upgrade my old graphics card (AMD Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3).

From seeing the price difference, and reviews of the 6670 as well as it's specs, it looked like it would wipe the floor with my old graphics card and give me improved graphics.

After installing the graphics card in and drivers etc, i noticed my desktop (which i can only use 1280x720 as any higher makes everything too small on my TV (i have a LCD TV capable of 1080p as i have used my ps3 with it before) ) i noticed my desktop graphics had not changed. Still a bit blurry in 720p.

I was rather annoyed by this.

The first game i tested the new graphics card out was Sims 3

The game ran at the same laggy level as it did with my old graphics card.

After using GPU-Z on my graphics card, not only did i receive the ATI OpenCL Driver Bug error, but it also showed that the graphics card is only running at 150 core gpu mhz and 100 memory mhz even though it is capable of 810 and 1000 ? (see screenshot below)

Please help me with the following:

- Why is this graphics card not an an improvement? / Is it not running to it's full power (if yes, why?)

- Why can't i use 1080p resolution correctly with PC but can with Ps3?

- Why do i have a blurry desktop / screen in general?

- Sometimes, i get the ATI OpenCl Driver Bug, (IN GPU-Z) but sometimes i dont and the box is checked. What is this?

- When i right click on Catalyst Control Center on taskbar, it shows 6 AMD Radeon HD 6670's ? What?!

PLEASE HELP.

Better to install the software from Disc first and update your driver. Disc software from your Graphic Card manufacturer may contains some useful tools to improve the performance. Don't let Windows automatically install the driver. Windows-based driver sucks.

First did u uninstalled the amd graphic card software before replacing your graphic card? The software bug problem may caused by this. (Though it's your 4th question but u have to solve it first.)

And actually u may haven't read and research carefully enough of your graphic card replacement. HD 7750, which doesn't use an additional 6-pin power supply as HD 6670, is build in new GCN architecture which completely outperformed VLIW4 see the comparison: http://www.hwcompare.com/11734/radeon-hd-6670-oem-vs-radeon-hd-7750/.

HD 6670 is now an crappy entry-level card and gradually out of play.(She is replaced by HD 7750 now) And your CPU may serve as a bottleneck 'cause SIM 3 may be CPU-demanding too and your CPU is too weak running at 2.0Ghz, try to OC your CPU. Also your memory(RAM) is quite small though. (I've got 8GB)

When Graphic card is idle of course it won't run at full power unless u force it.

Which cable do u use while connect your computer to TV? HDMI or VGA? Blurry desktop in the screen may caused by low resolution. (Says your TV requires 1920*1080 but u put 1280*720 instead)

I am not wanting to play the latest games on my computer, this is why i chose the 6670 (as i have a ps3 for any high demanding games)

I am using HDMI

i set the resolution to 720p because if i choose any higher, the screen becomes too small and i cant read anything. even the task bar at the bottom, it's very small.

I understand my processor is not the greatest - but i read that sims 3 only requires a single processor of 2.4ghz. so if i pocess a dual core of 2.00, you would think it would run fine no?

and i did uninstall previous software and drivers before installing this one today. I will admit, on some other games i tested it on like League of Legends or Warhammer 40k: Retribution, the graphics are able to go higher. And my windows index increased from:

Graphics: 4.1
Gaming Graphics: 4.7

to

Graphics: 5.9
Gaming Graphics: 5.9

So im guessing it is better, im just wondering why it doesnt seem it

And i also think this TV is not very good for displaying clear picture, i may need to invest in a PC monitor

Have u install the driver software from the Installation Disc with your new Graphic Card or u download a newest version from AMD.com instead?

Did u tweak all settings highest in Sim3? 'cause the CPU couldn't handle it even if your 6670 can. I've also found Sim3 didn't mention Windows 7, try compatibility to Windows Vista or XP to have a try.

This is what happened.

1) Uninstalled previous drivers and software

2) Installed new graphics card

3) turned computer on, windows driver installer popped up and started automatically installing required drivers. Whilst this was happening i decided to pop in the disc and install the stuff from there

4) Once everything had finished, i restarted my computer. I felt that i did something wrong when it came back on, as i was in disbelief that the graphics were not much better then my previous graphics card

5) I re-uninstalled drivers and software

6) restarted computer, but this time i didnt install anything from disc, just from windows

7) Restarted again. here i am. (i have catalyst control center version 13.4 i believe. I am on windows vista btw)

The game automatically set it to around medium settings.

i dont know how to stop it from downloading it though.

and i think on the disc, it installed the GPU tweak thing and also the drivers but it came up with catalyst installer for the drivers - and i already own the latest catalyst drivers so i dont think it will change anything
