So I just built my computer today. Everything is working fine. I am having an issue installing the OS.

I am trying to install windows xp professional OEM (new) on my Z87-G45 mobo from MSI. I put the disk in the drive and changed the bios boot to CD/DVD first. However regardless of what I do I still get a message saying "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected". I can see in the bios that both the hdd and disk drive are being recognized, and the disk will even start spinning, but then the message always pops up.

Any help?? Thanks guys!

Okay. is there any way to test the drive to see? I have a reinstall os disk from an old computer. If I throw that in there it should atleast attempt to boot from it, right?

theres also an option for a legacy+uefi boot and then just a uefi. if i select just the uefi then my hdd and cd drive disappear off the boot list. is it not working because xp needs a udfi boot? im just wondering if theres something blocking the xp disk from being read cause its much much older than my new mobo. any ideas?
