I know to some it may seem stupid but I honestly can't decide.
I just sold my 3570k and 7870 gpu because PC gaming just didn't click with me,

I'd much rather play consoles.

Anyway, to the point, I already have a corsair 80+ PSU, GTX550ti and a extreme4 motherboard, although I will be selling that and getting a cheaper board.

Now, the G540 is £30-£35 and the I3 is £65, bare in mind the only game i'll be playing will be Football Manager which isn't that demanding anyway. Other than that it'll just be sitting there to be used when needed.

Is the I3 worth the £30? £30 isn't alot but if it's wasting £30 then it's pointless!

I doubt you will notice a difference between the celery and an i3 for everyday computing tasks. Go celery and use the money saved to buy a small SSD if you want.

As a temporary setup I was using a Pentium G2020 (Dual core, 2.9GHz) paired with a 7870. Horribly bottlenecked in certain games but in others like Tomb Raider 2013 there was no difference once I upgraded to an i5 3470. In desktop browsing there was NO difference whatsoever between the Pentium and the i5.

I actually just found a G640 for £35! Which after some research, is suppose to be much more suited when it comes to light gaming, and it's the same price in my case! So I think i'll be buying that and using the £30 for something else.
I actually originally put that i might also be playing Tomb Raider (Brilliant game) but then deleted it, I thought it wouldn't run that good on cheap Cpu's and gpu's.
It's a cheap build, bar the motherboard, so i'm not expecting much. I was going to buy the 4850 but managed to get the 550ti for only £5 more than what the 4850 would cost me.

That's the exact reason I sold my 3570k and 7870. No **notable** difference considering I wasn't actually playing many pc games, Why have those two which are worth £330 when I'm not utilizing their power.
