I upgraded to an EVGA GeForce GTX 760 Video Card and started having problems when I was gaming. The screen would go black for a few seconds. I reverted back to the original card (GeForce GTX 450). It played ok for a couple of days and then and got an error from the game (error 132). I made sure I had W7 updates, defragged, and repaired the game, reinstalled my addons, I'm using the recommended Directx settings by the game folks and Nvidia. Then today, after playing for about 2 hours, my screen froze, I heard a buzzing sound and my screen was covered with pink squares in a checkerboard pattern. A couple of people in the game forum are suggesting it's a PSU problem.

I have the following set up:

CoolerMaster HAF 912 Mid-Tower Gaming Case w/ Adjustable HDD Cage
Intel(R) Core™ i5-760 2.80 GHz 8M Intel Smart Cache LGA1156
NZXT Liquid Cooling System 120MM Radiator & Fan (Enhanced Cooling Performance + Extreme Silent at 20dBA)
30 GB Kingston 2.5 inch SATA Gaming MLC Solid State Disk 1TB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 16MB Cache 7200RPM HDD
4GB (2GBx2) DDR3/1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Module
Asus P7H55 Intel H55 Express Chipset DDR3 LGA1156 ATX w/ 7.1 HD Audio, GbLAN, USB2.0, SATA-II, 1 Gen2 PCIe, 3 PCIe X1 & 3 PCI
Non-SLI/Non-CrossFireX Mode Supports Multiple Monitors
Onboard Gigabit LAN Network
OS: Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 7 Home Premium (64-bit Edition)
No Overclocking
800 Watts - XtremeGear Gaming Power Supply - Quad SLI Ready

I checked here and the latest article on PSU's was back in Feb and was a 550 or 600w PSU. Any suggestions or solutions?

Thanks in Advance.

For a system using a single GeForce GTX 760 graphics card NVIDIA specifies a minimum of a 500 Watt or greater system power supply that has a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 30 Amps or greater and that has at least two 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Total Combined Continuous Power/Current Available on the +12V Rail(s) rated at 45°C - 50°C ambient temperature, is the most important factor.

Overclocking of the CPU and/or GPU(s) may require an additional increase to the maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current ratings, recommended above, to meet the increase in power required for the overclock. The additional amount required will depend on the magnitude of the overclock being attempted.

The XFX Pro Series 550W Full Wired Edition (Bronze)(P1-550S-XXB9), with its maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 44 Amps and with one 6-pin and one (6+2)-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors, is more than sufficient to power your system configuration with a single GeForce GTX 760 graphics card.

mmm, i'm not fan of corsair cx series..
This one is actually good, but not durable enough for long term usage..
i have 2 cx series for my slave computer, and getting weak and faulty in 1.5 years usage..

and coolmax, well, many bad reviews about this brand..

XFX Pro Series 550W Full Wired Edition is seasonic oem, It is based on Seasonic's S12II Bronze Series platform..stick your choices to this one, and you will not regret..:)

The Corsair CX500M is okay for an entry level power supply. It uses cheap electrolytic capacitors in its manufacturing to meet the entry level price point. This usually leads to a shorter life span depending on the load it's subjected to.

The Coolmax ZU-500B is a horrible piece of rubbish. Save yourself the heartache and regret by avoiding this one altogether.
