I've recently discovored that my CPU might get too hot in load and middle-high in idle, so I'm just wondering what's normal for this CPU.

http://prntscr.com/1f9jo6 <--- Idle temp

http://prntscr.com/1f9jw9 <--- Load temp

Many thanks

That is a little hot but not dangerous. I see you are overclocking it a bit? Multiplier x39?

Yup, forgot to say that, standard clock is 3,3 Ghz so maybe thats why its a bit too hot? :p  Im also using the stock fan which I think is useless, time to get a new one :)

Hahah well there you go. Your fine where you are, but a new cooler for a little longer CPU life is a very good idea.

Out of curiosity, what are your full specs and what did you do to get to a stable 3.9GHz OC?

Or was it just a multiplier increase?

Hehe ye, I assumed that :D

Specs:

Gigayte Z77-DS3H
8GB 1600 mhz RAM
Asus Geforce GTX 550 Ti DirectCU
Standard hard drive and cd-rom

Yes, it was just and multiplier increase, so far it's stable x)

And a Corsair 430 W PSU :p

That is kind of cool, was hoping you have a B75 chipset. LOL.
Anyway, how long did you run prime95 or similar?

Have you tried playing with the bus speed? Although its not really suggested.

Haha, I'm not so into the motherboard and CPU market, just bought the motherboard because it was on sale together with the i5 :D

Ran prime95 for about 25-30 mins, max temp 75-77. And playing with the bus speed aint funny, thought I blew up my computer last time I mixed with it, hehe xd

Yeah, bus speed is no joke, with my GPU out I could do it decently, but as soon as you add something in the PCI-e slot, it just start becoming impossible on Ivy.

Unfortunately you can not go above x39 on a non-K CPU, but its still pretty cool.

Hehe ye, it fkn scares you when your computer starts, then dies, starts, then dies until you manually restart it and getting it too work :p

Yup, I know, doesnt mind me so much, I'm not an overclocking expert anyway ;)  Btw, thanks for the answers, I appreciate it much :D
