So this is the first rig I've ever built, and when I turn it on it runs and everything lights up and my stepdad has built computers and tells me everything is doing what it should be doing inside. HOWEVER. I have not gotten the video card yet, that is the last part I need but we wanted to see if it could boot and run with the on-board graphics. Could that be it? Do I need my video card?

My problem is it's not displaying on my Asus monitor, I tried VGA, DVI and HDMI and I get no signal, and the monitor goes into stand-by mode after like three seconds each time I try.

Help?

Look near your CPU chip or the outside edge of the mother board. There going to be a four or eight pin power plug. If you forgot to plug it in your CPU won't post. On your power supply will be one four pin cable or two four pin cables to make uld the eight pins you need. Don't use the six plus two gpu power cables.

Actually, and I can't believe I'm saying this, I found out the answer myself. After reading the guide you're referencing, I took out a stick of RAM to only have one in. When I put it back in after finding that wasn't the issue, I noticed the stick went in deeper than the one in the first slot. I pushed in the first slot more, and it displayed. Now I'm installing Windows! So happy. Thanks for your reply though.
