Hello TomsHardware, today I installed a new CPU cooler for my CPU, the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. However, after installing this new CPU cooler, my system will not boot. There is absolutely no display on the monitor.
Looking at the LEDs, the hard drive seems to be working as if the system were booting fine, but the mouse's laser wouldn't light unless I plugged it's USB only halfway.
I have tried re-installing the cooler but that did not work.
The CPU does heat up, and all the fans spin.
Removing the CMOS battery and putting it back in a few minutes later did not work.

I have seen this before with the 212. I'll be doing a MoBo replacement tomorrow. Once before I have run into this and I have another one on the dining room table. In both instances, removal of the heat sink revealed that the mounting hardware had cut into the MoBo damaging some of the circuits. I am seeing a red LED indicating a memory issue but the user reported that all he did was swap coolers. I also see some scratch marks on the MoBo where the hardware attached......will confirm tomorrow.
