GTX 780 16x vs 8x in 5760x1080?

I'm going to buy a GTX 780 soon, and was planning on buying another one this winter, along with two more monitors fore 5760x1080 gameplay. My motherboards allows either one 16x slot to be taken up, or two running at 8x. If they run at 8x how much performance would be lost? Is it better to just run one card in that scenario?

but it will roughly say that with pci-e 2.0 you will only see a 1-2% difference between 8x and 16x. pci-e 3.0 should be about the same difference.

Thats under the assumption that he is running a PCIe 3.0 board/CPU. We don't know his full rig yet, and whether the other components will be able to support it.

On PCIE-3 it's immeasureable, on PCIE-2 it averages 2-3% ..I saw 10% on one game ..... IIRC it was STALKER
