I just purchased a WD "My Book Live" 3TB NAS Drive.I have already created a WD2go acct and everything is running flawlessly so far.
I purchased this drive mainly because I need to have my data safely backed-up at an alternate location, as my basement apt is flood-Prone (Yep,Sandy Dumped 5 ft on me last Oct).
I currently have the drive hooked up to my router in my flood-prone apt just so I can complete the initial back-up of 2.5+ TB's because it would probably take forever over the internet but ofcourse...having it here is kind of defeating the purpose.
My question is.....If I move this drive to another location/router/network..say 60 miles away....will it affect the data that I have stored on it already? will I have to start a fresh back-up because of the change of IP address/router etc?? IdontKno??...Thanks in advance...

Solution
Won't effect data, accessing depends on how the NAS talks to your WD account. Does it report back the WAN IP of offsite storage location for you to access remotely and have they setup port forwarding or does it use upnp ?
