I have two 2TB SATA HDD in a NAS set up as Raid to look after all my files. I have had problems with these when it comes to smooth uninterrupted downloading and uploading of files to and from the internet using torrent.

I have been advised to take them out of the NAS box and install them directly in my HTPC running Windows 7. I have done this and connected them up with the SATA cables, but the system will not let me access them without formatting them. I'm not going to do this as they are full of files.

Is there any way around this?

I hope have given you all the info you need thanks.

Solution
If NAS has drives as raid-1 then yes,, as it would only see one drive and think one raid disk has failed. Best way to be certain, put one back in and see if all your files are there, then it is raid-1.
