I am finally getting off my Studio xps16 laptop and putting together a budget desktop for gaming and personal use. This is the first system I have put together since my AMD 486 so some second opinions are much needed. My budget is fairly low (set by my wife) so anywhere I could shave off a few dollars I did. I would really like to get your experienced opinions before I make this purchase. So here it is:

My location: FL (USA)
My Budget: ~$650 (no monitor, keyboard, mouse, or sound card)
Current Monitor: Asus 27" (1920x1080 max res. @60Hz)

My Build: Pc Part Picker List

That list list is the exact system I am wanting to put together; however, the cost is not accurate because the ram is free with the motherboard and I am purchasing the GTX580 Video Card for $150 from a reliable source (gaming buddy). Also, included with the $150 video card are three 120mm Cooler master fans and one 140mm fan.

Total Cost: $680 if all goes well with the mail in rebates. ($30 over budget)

I am not looking to do any serious overclocking but I would like to eventually be able to push the CPU up to 4.2GHz or maybe even 4.5GHz (no GPU overclock). I also plan to add a 128G SSD in the future when money isn't so tight.

So what do you think? Is there anything I am missing or anything I don't need in this list? Are there any part that might be considered junk and not worth the purchase?

Thank you for taking the time to read all this and any advise/opinion you share will be much appreciated.

That's pretty well pared down. All parts are decent. Do you need to purchase an OS?

You can save a few bucks on the PSU, 500w is plenty for any single GPU system.
500w version is $30 after all is said and done

If you think you might want to SLI a second 580 in the future, I recommend buying a 700+ watt now, however.

Otherwise, looks good!

P.S. look up microcenter. If you're lucky enough to live within driving distance of one, buy the CPU and motherboard there. The have combo deals with most unlocked CPU's ($40 off), ntm processors are cheaper there than anywhere else. The catch is that's in store only.

The 3570k with the asrock extreme4 will cost $285 total from microcenter, instead of $345 online.
