After installing a new graphics card it seems that whenever i start playing a game or the computer is under stress from me multitasking it will just randomly freeze/lock and requires a restart. A few potential things could be causing this such as inadequate power supply, a rather full HDD, or the graphics card itself.

Any suggestions ?
i have my data spread across to hard disks after a virus and im not sure what bits i can delete and which ones i cant.

I was tempted to suggest RAM as the culprit, but you mentioned the problem arisen upon install of a new video card. By that logic, if you were to remove the video card would everything be smooth as butter? Any error codes on freezing?

Not ruling out PSU, but a rather full HDD shouldn't cause the symptoms you described.

If the problem goes away after removing the video card, it could be an inadequate power supply as you suggested. What is power supply rated? What are the specs of your system?

I've now tried a fresh install of windows to my 500 gb hdd which is quite empty an still having the same issue. I've now bought a new PSU for £80 give or take a fiver will let you know if this solves the problem as the old psu is getting on for 5 years now way over its expectancy. I believe this is the issue as the new graphics card has a considerably higher demand on power.

Sorry I'm not sure even what the specifics of the old PSU is as I can't even google it, it's a 650 watt intel psu that's all I know.

Will keep you all posted
