hi guys,
I recently just updated my XP computer(I know really old) and found that the keyboard and mouse does not work at the User screen. The keyboard works at the BIOS but not later on. I then found out that my MP3 will not charge either. I really need this to work and before you recommend me to go and get another OS, I am only just 16 and that I am on a very low budget.
Really need this answered as I have all my school work on it. Thanks!!

Solution
Reset the BIOS to defaults, unplug from wall power, and pull out the CMOS battery for about 15 seconds, see if that works. Also there are times where Windows can take a miniute or 2 to detect USB devices after boot, did you wait a bit to try them again? The other thing is try starting the PC in Safe Mode with Networking, the USB drivers could have gotten messed up during the updates which would explain them working in the BIOS but not once Windows loads. You can uninstall the USB ports in Device Manager, then download the Chipset drivers from the PC vendor support site.
