Hi guys,

I have to be honest, I think I have caught the self-build bug! In addition to a medium budget htpc, I now wish to build a mini desktop for my parents.

The simple purpose for this is to have a snappy web browser, which can handle some YouTube / Netflix activity and possibly Microsoft office for the odd document or two. This is what I have so far:

Case: Habey EMC-600B (with stock power supply)

Storage: 60GB SSD (undecided on brand at the moment)

Motherboard: Gigabyte Nano AMD E350 Mini ITX 8GB DDR3 Bundle - Dual Core OR Gigabyte Nano H61 Intel Celeron G540 2.60GHz Mini ITX 4GB DDR3 Bundle - Dual Core.

Cooling: Passive cooling due to space limitations.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Which MOBO/CPU will give me the most bang for my buck (if enough) and whether passive cooling will be realistic for these given what I intend to do with the computer?

Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers all.

Thanks. I actually thought that about one of those... but would it be a little powerful for the system without at least stock cooling (which may not fit in such a small case)?

I think that fan would be a great solution. I hope that it fits in such a slim case Are there any other ultra slim fans that would help cool the A4.

I also wondered whether being an aluminium case, it would interfere with the installation of a laptop/netbook style cable Wi-Fi antenna such as:

http://compare.ebay.co.uk/like/190458949815?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&_lwgsi=y&cbt=y&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=63&ff19=0

With such a nice case, I would rather it be internal instead of having a 'router style' antenna or usb dongle.

Yes and whilst the performance would be great, I am concerned that heat could be an issue in such a small case. I guess a slim line fan would be the only option. Not sure how many of those would fit mind you! It is such as nice looking case though :(
