Hi,
I was thinking of upgrading my RAM
and there are 1600 and 1866 and higher versions and I have seen that my and every other Intel CPU only supports 1600.

So whats the point of an 1866 RAM. Are they only thought for overclocking?
Thanks for your help.

DRAM freqs currently run through 3000, AMD FX CPU support up to 2 sticks of 1866, with 4 sticks or more it drops to 1600/1333....AMD only supports dual channel, so even with 4 sticks you are still running dual, the Intel X79 is the only true quad channel option in the PC arena
