What resolution is the monitor you are using? If 1080p is your choice you should avoid both cards and get the EVGA GTX 760 for $259. Here's a chart from TechPowerUp where their testing showed that the GTX 760 matches the performance of the stock 7950 and 670:

perfrel_1920.gif

The GTX 760 from EVGA comes very close to all the FPS benchbarks in BF3 as well:

Same with Crysis 3 -

Also there are plenty of guides to overclocking and the software makes the experience relitively painfree.

In what worls is a 760 better than a 670... it has 200 less cores and even on nvidias page is slower that 670.. anyway these 2 cards are so close in performance it does not matter which you get get the cheaper one. A side note if you plan on a dual card setup in the future go 670 SLI is the better dual card setup for now till AMD fixes their Crossfire issues.

Thent

It's better because its close to equal in performance and yet cheaper, also is smaller, produces less heat and noise. There is NO reason to spend 50$+ on the GTX670 above a GTX760 @ 260$.

I would base my decision on my motherboard. If it is an AMD motherboard use the HD 7950. Keep to the same brand. It will make a difference. I have had issues with using an Nvidia card on an AMD board. If it is an Nvidia board use the GTX 670.

The real world?

Snarky response aside, per the real world test benchs of reviewers the overclocked GTX 760's outperfom the stock 670's and come close to the performance of the overclocked 670's at a lower price point. I have no comment on the synthetic benchmarks though but for actual playing experience they should be very similar.

This is awesome! Finally made my decision guys! Okey some of you would think i am wrong right now but i'll stick to the thing about AMD cards on AMD board's! That's it!!! and the /hd is also cheaper!!! anyway i live in South africa that realy sucks and here we don't have the Newest driver's yet but thanks fot your help guys! How do you guys think this will perform on games lets take an example Crysis 3:
FX-8350
MSI AMD 970A-G46 AM3+ motherboard
Radeon HD 7950
8GB Corsair vengeance RAM 1TB hard drive barracuda
750Watt PCU
???
so exciting guys! :D

Ah ok, if you live in South Africa(like me) the GTX760 is R5000, just not worth it. LOL. The HD7950 will serve you well as its considerably cheaper here.
But DO NOT bother getting it if you do not plan on overclocking, the HD7870 XT Sapphire is almost as fast but can not OC as well as the HD7950.

Where do you live? Is jy Afrikaans?

Resolution is very important in comparing video cards but that $300 video card has been shown to be not noticeably faster than this $250 MSI GTX 760 when both are overclocked by HARDOCP.

Here's the conclusion from the article:

With these prices in mind, the MSI N760 OC, at stock settings, technically beat out, in raw performance, the Radeon HD 7950 Boost. The gameplay experience was the same. However, when we overclocked both, the Radeon HD 7950 turned around and provided the technically higher raw performance. However the gameplay experience was still the same.

The same holds true for the more expensive GeForce GTX 670 as we found out in our initial evaluation. We concluded that the MSI N760 OC (and in turn the GTX 760 as a whole) was a better value compared to the GeForce GTX 670, it would save you $66-75, while still providing near the same performance.

Well, we can now saw that the same is true compared to the AMD Radeon HD 7950 Boost. The MSI N760 OC (and in turn the GT 760 as a whole) is a better value compared to the Radeon HD 7950 Boost. You will save $40-50 and get the same or better performance at stock settings. The gameplay experience is the same, and you will save money. When overclocked the HD 7950 Boost has a slight performance advantage, but it is still so close that the gameplay experience is the same.

Our performance summary is that the MSI N760 OC (and GTX 760 GPU) is a good value, and worth the money savings, compared to GeForce GTX 670 and AMD Radeon HD 7950 Boost.

If you have to go with AMD the 7950 is a great card at 1080p and even performs ok at higher resolutions. The GTX 760 performs as well at $50 cheaper.

This has already been covered in the thread. He is in South Africa, here we pay R5000(500$) for a damn GTX760.

We get it but BYO posted an american 7950 for $300 and I was posting an American 760 in case when people are searching the forums they can get the reference to prices in the USA. Or perhaps the OP is coming to the US soon and can pick one up on their trip?

That is not how it works as you may be misleading the OP.
You can not post hypothetical answer.

Seems like you have gotten anything but a straight answer in this thread. Not to discount the discussion, but the easy answer is that the GTX 670 is more on par with the 7970 and therefore higher performing in general than a 7950. In your listed games, the advantage for the GTX 670 is considerable. If you have questions about the GTX 760, results are also included in the benchmarks below.

In terms of Crysis 3, the GTX 670 is +4 in FPS over the 7950:
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GeForce_GTX_760_TF_Gaming/14.html

In Battlefield 3, the GTX 670 is +13 in FPS over the 7950:
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GeForce_GTX_760_TF_Gaming/8.html

In COD Black Ops 2, the GTX 670 is +24 in FPS over the 7950.
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GeForce_GTX_760_TF_Gaming/11.html

You have not read the thread either, the GTX670 goes for 500$ here in South Africa, the HD7950 for 400$. At that sort of difference. The GTX670 is just not worth it... Good god people stop this now..

I went to the supplied Titan-Ice website and my advice is still sound. The 7950's range from $415-515. The 760's are $495-515. If this is indicative across the board of prices at retail the 760 offers better performance at a better value.

The one MSI 670 for $465 is a great deal ATM. As 17seconds stated it performs at the 7970's level. That would be the best deal.

I have no idea about the company WootWare but they have the MSI 760 OC for R3,799.

That's false information regarding pairing an AMD card with an AMD motherboard. There is no advantage. In fact, you are talking about going with a card that delivers significantly less performance based on that false premise.

If anything, exactly the opposite is true.
