Hey guys:bounce: I need to upgrade memory of an old machine.
motherboard is Intel DG35EC
It's currently equipped with a Kingston 2gb 800Mhz (product ID: KVR800D2N5/2G)
So as the motherboard supports dual channel what are my best options to upgrade it with no bottlenecks or any other performance reductions.
Is it best if I buy the same model of the ram for upgrade or is it ok if I buy it from a different manufacture (like transcend)?
Is it ok if I install another 4gb ram or should I stick with just another 2gb ram card?
What's the best option I can choose?
Please help me. Thanks in advance.

edit:
I found a Kingston 2gb 800mhz ram. But it's model name is different; KVR800D2/2GR.

My current ram (KVR800D2N5/2G) is a discontinued out of stock product.
So can I achieve dual channel setup by installing the new ram model mentioned above?

Solution

Hi,

This motherboard supports upto 8 GB using four 2 GB modules. Check this link...

KVR800D2N5/2G is a single 2 GB, you can go add another 2 GB of DDR2 800 MHz DIMM module and it will run in Dual Channel.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. You meant I don't specifically have to install another Kingston ram to run it in Dual Channel?
Any ddr2 800mhz ram is compatible right?
