I have a puzzle. A few weeks ago I turned on my computer and found that I did not have the ability access wireless internet. My wifi wasn't off and I wasn't in airplane mode. In fact, as far as my computer seemed to be concerned it was thought I didn't have wireless functionality.

Looking to my device driver, I found that the wireless card wasn't present. Toggling the option to show hidden, I found that there was an error code 45 (the wireless card was disconnected). After trying every combination of powering down, restarting and putting to sleep my computer I gave up and reset the laptop to factory settings.

After the reset my laptop once again had wireless internet access... until I turned my computer off. Once again my wireless card was gone Once again I reset my laptop and once again I had wireless... until it the computer would shut down, fall asleep, or restart. This cycle repeated itself a few times.

Eventually I stopped performing the factory reset. There are a few facts to note. I was warned that my network card may not be waking due to power settings. I've disabled that setting in the device manager with no luck. Occasionally, I will turn on my computer and find that my network card is active. This happens (as far as I can tell) with no rhyme or reason. Removing the battery and the power then restarting seems to successfully wake the network card. Finally, my laptop has a light which indicates that it can access wireless. When the card is not functional the light will flicker on momentarily as I start the computer.

Quite frankly, I'm out of ideas. It doesn't seem to be a hardware problem (since there are reliable measures for waking the card) but I haven't seen any solutions that seem to work. My device driver is up to date. My network card is a Realtek RTL8188CE Wireless LAN 902.11n PCI-E NIC.

I'm hoping you guys can help!

Wireless may be going bad........is the time date on the system correct, if way off may be a CMOS battery going bad, might check for a new driver at your website, if none, download latest anyway, uninstall current and then boot and install the new download, also might turn sleepmode off on the wireless
