I have an IOGEAR WirelessN USB adapter I installed driver and it shows running 100% on my Desktop PC but on Internet access it shows Limited Access. On Open Network and Sharing Center it does not show a network. I am trying to connect my desktop pc to my smartphone hotspot. My laptop and my wifes laptop runs on hotspot just fine no problems. I Googled and tried alot of solving tips and none helped. Tried services.msc the WLan Autoconfig is automatic and started. Will a usb to RJ-45 converter let my usb adapter read on my direct RJ-45 motherboard plug? please help

My PC
Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 motherboard
Phenom II 1100t cpu
8Gb 1600 ram
2 x 500 Gb hard drives(internal and external)
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

To upload pictures you need to use a 3rd party site like google drive or photobucket. Then just paste the link to the uploaded file into the response.

For all intents and purposes though, your phone's hotspot acts as a wireless router, to which the Wireless N USB adapter acts like the wireless adapter in your laptop while plugged into the USB port of your PC.

EG: Phone Hotspot (router) -> wireless signal -> Wireless N USB Adapter -> USB Port on PC
So I am not sure as to why you are looking to convert the USB to RJ45.

The reason an RJ45 to USB adapter will not work is that the USB Adapter requires drivers which tells the PC how to communicate with the wireless adapter via USB, without the drivers to tell the PC how to communicate with...

This tells me you are not being assigned an IP address from the mobile hotspot via DHCP. I see DHCP is enabled for your Wireless adapter which is correct.

What are your hotspot's settings, smartphone make/model/OS, and data service provider?
EG: HTC EVO - Android data provided by Sprint;
WEP/WPA/WPA2-Personal, 802.11b/g/n? etc

Are the other devices also connected currently while you are attempting to connect?
Some phones have a limit to the amount of devices it will allow to connect at a given time, if so try disconnecting them before connecting.

Have you rebooted both the smartphone and issue PC?

my phone is a Samsung galaxy s4 but thats not the problem. How do I get my Desktop PC that does not have a wireless connection setup like a laptop pc there is my problem. I took screen shots of my IOGEAR adapter running reading from the hotspot but cant figure out how to upload them here to show you. I am doing all this from my laptop and copying from my desktop pc with a flash drive to laptop my cmd. iconfig/all I had to copy and paste text with word pad. How do I get hooked up to my usb adapter is my problem. Would a usb to RJ45 crossover work, go back to my first question.

So I am not sure as to why you are looking to convert the USB to RJ45.

The reason an RJ45 to USB adapter will not work is that the USB Adapter requires drivers which tells the PC how to communicate with the wireless adapter via USB, without the drivers to tell the PC how to communicate with it, it can not work. As well the USB Adapter would also not know which access point you are attempting to connect with to provide internet access through RJ45.

You should only need to plug the USB Adapter into the PC, once the drivers are installed, your PC should list the available access points it can connect with, one of which should be the SSID of your phone's hotspot. You should be able to select the hotspot in the list and tell it to connect, at which point be prompted for the password your hotspot is configured with. This process is not automated.

What I was trying to determine is the PC's ability to connect to any access point, including your mobile hotspot, by your listing the ipconfig /all, which tells me your PC should see the hotspot and be able to connect to it. Which if you have done the above, have determined it is failing to connect by not being issued an IP from the hotspot.

Which lead me to determine how you have your hotspot configured. As there are a number of settings that can be changed that would cause the same issue you are experiencing. Such as using WEP TKIP, while your PC may be trying to connect via WPA2 PSK. 5ghz vs 2.4ghz to which the USB Adapter you purchased may not support 5ghz. As well as the number of connections that are selected in the mobile phones limit. If 2 was selected and your wife and your laptop were already connected, the PC would not be able to join. So the hotspot "could" be misconfigured for your USB Adapter, while still working fine with the Laptop's.

Another option is that you can try to tether the phone via USB cable to the PC, eliminating the need for a USB Wireless N Adapter all together.
Another setting still is that you can setup an ad hoc network on one of the laptops to share it's internet connection to the PC, but if it's not connecting to the hotspot, that is a much more complex configuration to debug and setup.
