Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade my cpu with some graduation money I got, would upgrading to an FX 8350 be possible or at least safe with this motherboard? I've heard varying things about it. Thanks in advance.

According to the MSI supported list. The 8350 is not supported.
Even if it were the 760 chipset is old and not suggested on 125w parts.

You should be getting 970 or 990FX chipset, if you overclock the 990FX is sort of a must.

So in that case I might just go with an i5 and z77 then. I was only planning on getting this because putting in a simple cpu was much simpler than a new mobo as well. Thanks.

Sounds good to me. You can also consider haswel Z87, but its not much of an improvement over Ivy, so hard to justify the price.

Thanks for the help, I didn't even think about the motherboard compatibility issue when I thought of this. It sure would've sucked to have fried the motherboard or something from putting this cpu in haha.
